Ghana international Jordan Ayew looks set to complete a move to Premier League Aston Villa

According to Sky Sports, Aston Villa have had a bid of around £12million accepted by French club Lorient for forward Jordan Ayew.

The Ghana international is now set to travel to the Midlands to discuss terms and have a medical.

Ayew’s older brother Andre Ayew joined Premier League Swansea from Marseille earlier this summer and his dad is one of the most heralded African players of all-time Abedi ‘Pele’ Ayew.

The French-born 23-year-old only moved to Lorient last summer and made his mark scoring 13 goals and producing seven assists in all competitions. The forward had also previously been linked with a move to Villa’s Premier League rivals Everton.

Villa are in need of forward signings after selling Belgium international striker Christian Benteke to Liverpool for £32.5million. Villa lacked creativity for much of last season and it meant the Villans being dragged into the relegation dogfight.

However, since the arrival of boss Tim Sherwood there seems to be a more positive outlook from everybody connected with the club.

No doubt the former-Spurs boss will be looking to further strengthen his squad before the Premier League campaign kicks-off in a few weeks’ time.

The Villans are still being heavily linked with a move for QPR striker Charlie Austin, who is rated in the £15million bracket. He is reportedly in demand, but only Leicester has actually made a solid bid for the star.

Whether the signing of Ayew ends Villa’s interest in the former-Poole Town striker remains unseen, but he could also be a very good addition to the Villans attack for the new campaign.

Will Jordan Ayew be successful in the Premier League?
