Seydou Doumbia spoke about his experiences of playing at Roma to Africa Top Sports.
He said “At Rome I wasn’t happy and I wasn’t enjoying playing football. That’s why I won’t return. Since my first day at Roma I didn’t feel at home, now I returned to CSKA Moscow and I am happy again. I am still a Roma player but I have no intention on returning. After the Africa Cup it was difficult for me, I’ve had contact with other clubs from England but CSKA was the best solution for me even for playing the Champions League. I was convinced that that’s what I needed to relaunch my career. In the last 4 months at Roma I did not have the pleasure of participating in matches and to play football.”
Doumbia’s comments seem to put an end to his experience at the capital based club. Doumbia was signed by Roma last January during the winter transfer window.
Although his capture led to high expectations from Roma supporters he never managed to settle down that led to below par performances.
He was a totally different player from the one that scored Champions League goals for CSKA Moscow some weeks earlier that resulted in Roma being knocked out of the Champions League.
Will Seydou Doumbia ever play for Roma again?
