The Daily Mirror claim that Swansea are close to firing boss Garry Monk

According to the Daily Mirror, Swansea could be set to sack highly-rated young boss Garry Monk, as the Swans have won just one of their last eight Premier League games.

The Welsh club reportedly offered Monk a chance of staying on with the assistance of more experienced backroom staff, but it is believed that the Swans boss turned down the offer of help and could now suffer the consequences.

Swansea started the season in decent form, but has struggled to pick-up points in the last few weeks of the campaign. The Swans performances have been lifeless and poor in recent weeks and it seems that Monk has been unable to turn his team’s fortunes around.

The 36-year-old is in his first managerial role and is believed that he would have survived the sack if the team would have managed to improve results. However a 1-0 defeat at struggling Norwich on Saturday has left the Swansea 14th in the Premier League table.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has a history of hiring and firing bosses at the right time to help the team and club progress. Maybe any decision he will make at this point will also be the right one.
