Italian giants Inter have made a bid of around £6million for Liverpool striker Fabio Borini, according to Sky Sports.

The 24-year-old has struggled to establish himself in the Liverpool since his £12million arrival in 2012.

He was Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers first signing at the club following his arrival at Anfield. He struggled to find his best form in his first season and was sent out on-loan to Sunderland in his second season and enjoyed a relatively successful stint in the north east.

He was reportedly close to completing a permanent move to the Black Cats, but in the end decided against making the move a permanent one, as he wanted to fight for a starting place at Anfield.

Borini made 12 Premier League appearances last season and scored just one goal for the Reds. The Italian’s lack of goals led to speculation over his future.

The striker has spent much of his career in England, starting his professional career at Chelsea, before enjoying a loan spell at Swansea and returning to his homeland with Roma. He impressed at the Giallorossi and earned a reunion with former-Swansea boss Rodgers in Wales.

His perceived failure on Merseyside does not seem to have affected his reputation in Italy, with Roberto Mancini’s looking to sign him and believed to be ready to offer the striker a four-year contract in Milan.

Borini is unlikely to see much first team football at Liverpool this season, after the summer arrival of Christian Benteke and Danny Ings, as well as Divock Origi returning to the club following a loan spell at Lille.

It remains to be seen if the Italian will be returning to his homeland, as it has not been revealed if the bid will be successful or not.

Will Fabio Borini be plying his trade in his homeland this season?
