Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp experienced his first setback as Reds boss on Sunday, as Crystal Palace came to Anfield and claimed a 2-1 victory.
It was the Eagles second victory in a row at the home of the Reds.
The defeat was also Klopp’s first loss as Liverpool boss. The game proved that the German boss still has a big challenge on his hands to revive the fortunes of the under-achieving Merseyside giants.
When he arrived he expressed his happiness at the strength of his squad, but there is no doubt his current squad are not quite good enough to take the Reds where they want to be in the near future.
One player who is thriving under Klopp is Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho, who scored the equaliser for the Reds in yesterday’s draw, and also netted in the previous game in a 3-1 win at Chelsea.
Coutinho is an undoubtable talent, but can be frustrating in the fact that he struggles for consistency.
The defeat against Palace showed that Klopp has much work to do on Merseyside to resurrect the Reds. Liverpool fans will need to be patient and give Klopp the time to get things right.
