According to Sky Sports, Liverpool have agreed terms with Burnley striker Danny Ings, subject to a medical.

The striker has been linked with a switch to Merseyside since the January transfer window and will join as a free agent.

Impressive

The newly-relegated Clarets will receive compensation (more on that later) for the 22-year-old who impressed immensely in his debut campaign in the top-flight.

Despite playing in a team that struggled for creativity and goals, Ings managed to score 11 goals last season.

The striker was one of the Clarets standout performers in a rather disappointing season. His performances attracted the attention of Liverpool and also Tottenham.

Compensation

Ings will join the Reds as a free agent, but is under 24 so the Merseysider’s will have to pay compensation to the Clarets.

Spurs were believed to be readying a £12million bid to stave off the interest from Liverpool, but Brendan Rodgers team look to have won the race for the forward.

Burnley has turned down an initial offer from Liverpool and if a fee cannot be agreed then it will be decided by a Premier League committee.

Shrewd

The signing of Ings follows on the back of the Reds agreeing a deal with England midfielder James Milner, who is also a free agent this summer.

Liverpool fans may be looking for their club to sign world-class players this summer, but the signing of Ings could prove to be a very shrewd one.

At 22-years old Danny Ings still has time to become a very good player and playing with better players on Merseyside can only improve the striker.

For me signing Danny Ings this summer for a small fee is a no-brainer. He is young and will only get better with more experience. He could prove to be a bargain buy for the Reds.

Is Danny Ings a good signing for Liverpool?

  1. Not only is he young and a total stud on the field, from what I understand, he’s also really involved in the community with charity work.. Great signing!
