According to reports in Spain from Fichajes, Liverpool could be set to do a swap deal with Italian giants AC Milan involving Brazilian defensive midfielder Lucas Leiva and French attacking midfielder Jeremy Menez, with the Spanish news outlet claiming that terms are close to being agreed.
Brazilian international Leiva has been linked with a move away from Anfield on a number of occasions during his Liverpool career and AC Milan are one of the clubs who have been consistently linked with a move for Leiva.
Leiva faces stiff competition to get into the Reds side, after the summer arrival of England international midfielder James Milner from Manchester City.
He is also competing with the likes of Jordan Henderson and highly-rated Emre Can for a place in the centre of the Liverpool midfield.
Jeremy Menez is highly-regarded, but has yet to feature for the Rossoneri this season in Serie A, although he is currently out of action through a hip injury.
Menez enjoyed a stellar campaign in Serie A last season, scoring 16 league goals and producing four assists. It seems despite that good campaign a swap deal could still happen in the January transfer window.
Would Jeremy Menez be a good signing for Liverpool?
