Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca seems to have emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool

According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool could make a move for Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca.

The Colombian striker has a release clause of £21.5million in his contract and the Andalusians will not sell the striker for less than that release clause.

Alternative

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is believed to be looking to strengthen his attack this summer, despite the arrival of Danny Ings from Burnley and Divock Origi’s return from a loan spell at Lille. The Reds primary target was believed to Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

However, Villa will not sell their star asset for any less than the £32.5million clause in his contract, so Liverpool could now turn their attention to Bacca.

Goals

Bacca has been prolific in his Sevilla career so far, having scored 28 goals last in all competitions, as the Andalusians retained the Europa League crown. Bacca had also scored 18 goals in the previous season, which was his first in Spain.

In fact Bacca has been relatively prolific throughout his career, even in his early days with Atletico Junior in his homeland.

Older

One problem with Bacca is that he is 29-years-old in September, so would not fit into the Liverpool’s transfer policy and is unlikely to give much of a sell-on fee. He would be a relative short-term fix for the Reds attacking problems.

Busy

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has already been busy strengthening his squad ahead of next season, with three signings already in the bag. If reports are to be believed then Bacca could be next through the Anfield entrance.

Should Liverpool sign Carlos Bacca this summer?
