According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United could be set to complete the £25million signing of Morgan Schneiderlin, with the French midfielder set to sign a four-year deal with the Red Devils.
Schneiderlin put in a transfer request last summer, which was turned down and was reportedly told by the Saints hierarchy that he would be allowed to leave this summer.
United were not the only club interested in signing Schneiderlin though, as both north London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for the 25-year-old star.
Schneiderlin has played a big part in the Saints rise from League One to the Premier League and is one of their most influential players.
The highly-rated midfielder would be United’s second big money new arrival after forward Memphis Depay joined the club from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven.
Southampton are being linked with a move for Marseille star and Schneiderlin’s compatriot Giannelli Imbula, who is rated in the £15million bracket. The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has also been linked with moves to Arsenal and Inter.
With Schneiderlin set to leave the Saints, tough-tackling Imbula could prove an ideal replacement for the midfielder.
However, he is not the only player being mooted as a possible replacement for Schneiderlin though, as the likes of Jordy Clasie, Yohan Cabaye and Idrissa Gueye are all being linked with a move to the south coast, as boss Ronald Koeman looks to strengthen his squad.
Will Morgan Schneiderlin be a good signing for Manchester United?
