There’s always time even when the time has expired.
The summer transfer window has closed but Napoli did not manage to close all the deals they wanted to.
The most glamorous missed transfer was that of Roberto Soriano with Napoli, Sampdoria and the player agreeing on the deal but not materializing as Napoli did not manage to submit all the documentation by 11pm.
Now that the deal did not happen it still has to be seen if Napoli will still be keen to close the deal in January.
A similar situation had occurred some years back when Napoli had almost signed Tim Matavz from PSV with the deal not happening on the last day of the transfer window due to similar issues.
Although the deal was agreed upon Napoli had decided not to further their interest.
The same may happen with Soriano as Napoli now seem to be more keen on signing an attacking midfielder with Dinamo Kiev’s Younès Belhanda being their main target.
Another player Napoli are monitoring is Davy Klaassen of Ajax. Both players play as attacking midfielders with the Dutch player being younger and having a lower price tag than Younès Belhanda.
On the other hand one has to also evaluate if Soriano will still be interested in a move to Napoli as he had agreed to the move only after realizing that a move to AC Milan couldn’t materialize itself.
