Southampton full-back Nathaniel Clyne is reportedly close to completing a move to Liverpool

According to Sky Sports, Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne is set to complete a £12.5million move to Liverpool.

The Reds had reported already had a bid of around £10million turned down for the full-back, but a deal is expected to be reached between the two clubs. The deal could be worth around £15million in add-ons.

Contract

Clyne has just a year left on his contract at St Marys and has not accepted the offer of a new deal with the south coast club. The right-back had also previously attracted interest from Liverpool’s North West rivals Manchester United this summer.

Impressive

Clyne has been one of the most consistent right-backs in the Premier League since Southampton’s promotion in 2013. He played a big part in Saints having the second best defensive record in the league last season, with only champions Chelsea conceding fewer goals last season.

The 24-year-olds impressive form earned him a call-up to the England squad and he is now regarded as a regular member of Roy Hodgson’s Three Lions squad. Clyne played in England’s recent 3-2 Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia.

Close

The Daily Mirror, are also claiming that Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign Southampton’s French midfield playmaker Morgan Schneiderlin in a £24million deal. The midfielder has recently stated that his future will be settled in the coming days.

Schneiderlin had previously been heavily linked with moves to north London with both Arsenal and Tottenham being reportedly interested in the France international midfielder. However, it seems that United may have won the race for Schneiderlin.

Will Nathaniel Clyne be a good signing for Liverpool?
