Stoke have signed the German-born Spanish striker Joselu from German club Hannover 96 for a fee of around £5.75milion.

The 25-year-old is believed to have signed a long-term deal at the Britannia Stadium.

Decent

The former-Spanish under-21 international enjoyed a decent campaign with the German side, scoring eight goals in 30 appearances as his team finished in 13th place in the Bundesliga. The previous campaign he had hit nine goals for Eintract Frankfurt.

Real Madrid

The striker started his professional career at Real Madrid, after coming through the youth ranks at Celta Vigo.

He made just one five minute appearance as a substitute for Los Blancos, but managed to find the net. No doubt starting his career in the Spanish capital will have given him a good grounding.

Ambitious

Stoke finished ninth in the Premier League last season and the Potters board seem relatively ambitious.

The side from the Potteries are now an established midtable top-flight side, but since his arrival boss Mark Hughes has endeavoured to change the team’s style of play.

The signing of Joselu is fairly ambitious considering that last summer the Potters mostly signed players on free transfers and loan deals.

Third

Joselu is the third signing of the summer for the Potters, as they have already secured the signings of defender Philip Wollscheid on a permanent basis, after a loan spell at the club last season. The Potters have also brought in ‘keeper Jakob Haugaard.

It will be difficult for the Potters to progress further than their league position last season, but everybody connected with the club will be looking for them to move forward next season.

Is Joselu a good signing for Stoke City?
