Etienne Capoue is reportedly close to a move from Tottenham to Watford

According to Sky Sports, Premier League newcomers Watford have agreed fees for Tottenham midfield duo Etienne Capoue and Benjamin Stambouli.

French international Capoue is believed to be close to agreeing a move to Vicarage Road, but Stambouli is further away from an agreement than his compatriot.

Both players arrived in north London with high hopes, but neither has really been able to command a regular place in the Spurs starting line-up since their arrival.

Capoue has made just 19 starts in the English top-flight since his arrival at White Hart Lane in 2013 from Toulouse. He arrived as a relatedly highly-rated player for a big fee, but injuries and lack of form have prevented him from being a success.

The midfielder has not featured for Spurs since January and has been consistently linked with a move away from the Lane in recent months.

Stambouli has made just four Premier League starts for the club since arriving from Montpellier and also looks set to move on this summer, as Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino looks to make room for potential new arrivals this summer.

Watford have been busy strengthening their squad this summer and have already added five new additions to their squad.

The Hornets are also believed to be close to signing Greek full-back Jose Holebas, but he is yet to sign a contract, despite Watford quite bizarrely announcing that a deal had been complete for the Roma star.

Holebas is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Hornets once he has read his potential new contract that is, as according to the player he did not even know he was moving to Watford.

Can Watford avoid the drop next season?
