According to the Mirror, West Brom have agreed a fee of around £7million with QPR for star winger Matty Phillips.

The 24-year-old is expected to discuss terms and complete the move by the end of next week.

Scotland international Phillips enjoyed an impressive campaign for the Hoops last season, despite their relegation from the Premier League. The winger scored three times and collected eight assists in the English top-flight in the last campaign.

The likes of Crystal Palace and Sunderland are also believed to be interested in signing the winger, but it is the Baggies who are in pole position to sign the highly-rated former-Blackpool ace.

West Brom and boss Tony Pulis have been frustrated in their search for new signings this summer, with Republic of Ireland winger James McClean their only signing of the summer transfer window so far.

The Baggies were interested in bringing former-Chelsea striker Demba Ba back to the Premier League, but a lucrative offer from Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua was enough to lure the Senegalese forward to the Chinese Super League.

West Brom hired Pulis last season to keep them in the league and owner Jeremy Peace, who is reportedly in talks with a Chinese consortium to buy the club, wants to move the club forward next season.

The Baggies are likely to make further purchases this summer as Pulis looks to strengthen his paper thin squad in the Midlands after finishing 13th in the Premier League last summer.

Could Matty Phillips prove a shrewd signing for the Baggies?
