Stoke City moved above Swansea City in the Premier League table by beating the Swans 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium on Monday night.

The victory was the Potters third consecutive win in the Premier League, after they failed to win any of their first six league games.

The decisive moment of the game came on three minutes. Spanish forward Bojan was brought down inside the 18-yard box by Swansea centre-back Ashley Williams. The former Barcelona star dusted himself off and scored from the resulting spot-kick.

Swansea struggled to create anything and Potters full-back Glen Johnson could have doubled the visitors lead, but fired wide, after Xherdan Shaqiri had played the former Liverpool star in on goal.

The Welsh did come close to equalising in the second half though, as England midfielder Jonjo Shelvey hit the post with a powerful low effort from 18 yards out. That effort came after Stoke winger Marko Arnautovic saw a goal ruled-out for offside.

Swans substitute Gylfi Sigurdsson fired just over the Stoke bar from 30 yards. The Welsh side had a penalty appeal turned down late-on, as Jefferson Montero claimed he was fouled by Johnson in the penalty area. However, referee Robert Madley was waved away the appeals.

The Potters held on to a victory that took them to 11th place in the table, while Swansea dropped to 14th place and have now not won in five league games.

Will Stoke finish above Swansea this season?
