Former-Liverpool star Xabi Alonso is being linked with a return to Anfield

According to the Daily Express, Liverpool are set to make a move for former midfielder Xabi Alonso.

The Spaniard has played a key part in Pep Guardiola’s spell at German champions Bayern Munich, but Tuttomercatoweb are reporting that he will not be offered a new deal in Bavaria.

Those reports have reportedly alerted Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who is believed to be an admirer of the former Spanish international.

Alonso spent five years at Anfield from 2004 to 2009 and was part of the Reds team that won the Champions League in 2005 against AC Milan, as Rafa Benitez’s team came back from three goals down to win the trophy on penalty kicks.

The midfielder moved to Real Madrid in 2009 and spent five years with the Spanish giants. He also won the Champions League with Los Blancos in 2014, which was the clubs tenth European Cup.

The defensive midfielder turns 34 later this month, so is very much in the veteran stage of his career. However the midfielder still has a lot to offer and his football brain seems in good working order.

Maybe Alonso would enjoy one last stint in the Premier League, after previously admitting he is still a big fan of Liverpool.

Would Xabi Alonso be a good signing for Liverpool?

Real Madrid could be making a move for Juventus striker Alvaro Morata according to agent Ernesto Bronzetti

Spanish giants Real Madrid are looking to re-sign former star Alvaro Morata from Juventus in the summer, according to agent Ernesto Bronzetti.

The young striker joined reigning Italian reigning champions Juve in 2014 for a fee of 22million Euros, but a buy-back clause was inserted into the deal.

Now according to Bronzetti, Real wish to activate that clause in the summer.

Whether the striker will be keen on the move back to Spain remains to be seen though.

Bronzetti told Tuttosport: “Madrid’s intention is to bring him back, but whether they do it or not will depend on the will of the player. The outcome will arrive in the months to come.

“[Madrid] are starting to change their transfer policy. They are now looking to sign young players and Morata’s profile is interesting.”

Spanish publication AS claims that Real will have to pay 35million euros to re-sign their former youngster. Morata left the Spanish capital in search of first team football, with his way to the first team blocked by the Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale.

Not much has changed at Real since, with the BBC still crucial players for Rafa Benitez’s team. Morata would be taking a big chance with his development by returning to the Bernabeu, as he could end up on the real bench behind the clubs famous three strike-force.

Will Alvaro Morata return to Real Madrid in the summer?

Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has refused to rule out a return to the Premier League club, but believes that Jose Mourinho will not be sacked in the near future.

Chelsea have endured a torrid start to the defence of their Premier League crown and currently sit 16th place in the top-flight table, having collected just 11 points this season. The Blues struggles have led to speculation over the future of boss Mourinho.

Talking about Chelsea, Ancelotti told the Daily Mail: “I would have no problem with Chelsea,”

“But Jose won’t be sacked. They already choose to keep him, and I think they made a good choice.”

Ancelotti has been mooted as a possible replacement for Mourinho in the Blues dugout, despite the fact that he had been sacked by the Blues earlier in his career.

Being sacked by Blues owner Roman Abramovich did not stop Mourinho returning to Stamford Bridge for a second spell though.

Ancelotti was sacked by Real Madrid at the end of the last campaign, after Los Blancos failed to win any silverware and arch-rivals Barcelona dominated at home and abroad.

Chelsea has been linked with a number of bosses, including Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola, whose contract expires in the summer. However the Spaniard is one of the most in-demand bosses in world football, so there is no guarantee that Guardiola would be interested in a move to Chelsea.

Will Carlo Ancelotti be the next Chelsea boss?

Experienced Italian boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he would like to return to the Premier League before he retires

Former-Chelsea and Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that he would like to return to the Premier League in the future.

The Italian was recently linked with the vacant Liverpool job prior to Jurgen Klopp being appointed as the Reds boss.

Ancelotti ruled himself of the running for the job on Merseyside, as he felt like he was not ready to yet return from his sabbatical.

However, Ancelotti has now hinted that he would be willing to return to management in January.

He told Corriere dello Sport: “I would like to go back to the Premier League. It is the ideal environment not for football, but for the ‘game’ around football,”

“You can work there with the right amount of pressure and with the necessary detachment and calm. Before I retire, I’d like to have another experience in England.”

He continued by saying: “The vacation continues at least until the end of the year, then I’ll start again.

“Where will I go? Where they call me. I will talk, evaluate and then decide. Up until a few weeks ago I was scared someone would call, but now the return is getting closer. Unless something strange happens. I am ready to get back on the bike in January.”

Ancelotti would certainly be a good addition to the Premier League having won silverware wherever he has managed. However for the Italian it would very much be destination unknown.

Former-Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is being linked with replacing Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool has sounded out former-Chelsea and PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti about replacing current boss Brendan Rodgers.

Liverpool boss Rodgers has come under increasing pressure with the Reds on a run of four games in all competitions without a win.

The Reds face Carlisle United in the third round of the Capital One Cup this evening with Rodgers future at Anfield seemingly hanging by a thread.

The former-Swansea boss spent big this summer on the likes of Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino and Nathaniel Clyne, after losing England international Raheem Sterling to Manchester City in the summer.

It seems that although Rodgers does have the support of some of the Liverpool hierarchy, the Reds owners FSG are preparing to replace the Northern Irishman in the clubs managerial hot seat.

Ancelotti is regarded as one of the best tacticians in the European game and is highly decorated. The Italian has guided AC Milan and Real Madrid to the Champions League crown, while he also won the European Cup during his playing days with the Rossoneri.

The Italian is likely to be a popular choice amongst the Reds fans, if indeed Rodgers leaves the club in the near future.

According to the Sunday Express, big spending French giants PSG could be set to make a move for Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho at the end of the campaign.

The reigning Premier League champions have made a poor start to their Premier League campaign, which took a slight turn for the better with a 2-0 win over Arsenal on Saturday.

Mourinho has only recently signed a new four-year deal with the Blues, but his teams start to the season has and off-the-field problems have led to speculation over the future of the Portuguese boss, with suggestions in the media that the 52-year-old could lose his job.

PSG have been forging themselves a reputation as a big hitter in the European game, after spending big in the transfer market in the past few transfer windows.

Mourinho has been linked with a move to the French capital in the past and it seems the link will not be going away.

Mourinho is still highly-regarded in the European game, having been successful at FC Porto, Chelsea, Internazionale and to a certain extent at Real Madrid.

It remains to be seen if the controversial Portuguese boss will be leaving the Blues in the near future.

Real Madrid playmaker Isco is being linked with a January move to Manchester City

According to the Guardian and Spanish publication Sport, Manchester City are interested in signing Real Madrid and Spain playmaker Isco in January.

The midfielder is reportedly to be valued at around £22million by Los Blancos.

The 23-year-old joined the Spanish giants in 2013 from Malaga and was regarded as one of the brightest young attacking midfielders in European football.

However, a wealth of superstars in the Real squad has prevented Isco winning a regular spot in the Los Blancos team.

Despite not being regarded as first choice, Isco started 28 La Liga games last season, scored four goals and created nine assists. However, the fact that both James Rodriguez and Luka Modric were injured for relative long periods help the Spaniard’s chances of playing time.

Isco played in a deeper role than usual last season, and showed that he is not just effective at attacking, but also did a very solid defensive job as well in a very attack-minded Real team.

No doubt Isco would be a quality signing for Manchester City. The question would be where would the Spaniard fit into the team? City has already spent big on attacking midfielders Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne this summer, so their squad seems well-stocked in that area.

It remains to be seen if the story has any truth, but Isco would definitely be a fine addition to the Citizens squad and the Premier League.

Highly-rated Manchester United youngster Adnan Januzaj is being linked with a permanent move to Dortmund

According to the Daily Star, Manchester United’s Adnan Januzaj could be making a move to Dortmund in a swap deal involving Marco Reus next summer.

Januzaj is currently on a season-long loan at the German giants, but it seems his stay in Germany could be turned into a permanent one in the near future, with highly-rated Germany international Marco Reus heading in the opposite direction.

Reus has reportedly been a transfer target for United for the last few summers, but has endured injury-problems in the last few seasons, which has stalled any likely move. Reus has also previously been linked with a move to Arsenal.

Januzaj is highly-rated and started United’s early Premier League games, so it came as a slight surprise when he departed on-loan towards the end of the summer transfer window. It even raised question marks over the future of the youngster at Old Trafford.

Reus is believed to be rated at around £60million by Dortmund, so a deal may not be an easy one for United. The inclusion of the highly-rated Januzaj may sweeten the deal for the German club though.

The German club may now be willing to sell the 26-year-old, as he has endured numerous injury problems over the past few seasons. The Red Devils may face competition for the star with Real Madrid also believed to be interested in signing the forward.

Alvaro Morata JuventusAlvaro Morata has never been forgotten by Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez.

The Juventus striker, born in Madrid in 1992, played for Real Madrid from 2008 to 2014.

Last summer he was sold to Juventus for a fee of 22 million euros. Morata turned out to be an important player for Juventus also thanks to the five goals he score in the Champions League. His performances have been too good for Real Madrid to forget about him and not think of signing him back.

Real Madrid have an agreement with Juventus that they may sign back Morata for an agreed fee either in the 2015/2016 or the 2016/2017 season.

According to Spanish news house El Mundo Deportivo, Florentino Perez is seriously considering signing him back. That said, Real Madrid know that the transfer may only take place if Morata agrees to move back.

Morata will base his decision on the outcome of this season and the playing time he’ll be getting from Massimilano Allegri.

Competition is lacking, although Alvaro managed 46 appearances last season he has suddenly found himself competing for a starting spot with Dybala and Mandzukic, also keeping in mind the presence of Simone Zaza.

What might ruin the plans of the Real Madrid president is coach Rafa Benitez. Benitez has already declared that the striker position is already well covered.

In fact, according to the coach three players may play in that position in Benzema, Jese and Cristiano Ronaldo. For that reason, the hunt for a central striker is not his priority.

Juventus will be hoping that Benitez convinces Perez not to sign Morata as he has become a key player at Juventus.

Will David de Gea return to the United first team after being named in the Champions League squad?

Now the dust has settled on the non-transfer of David de Gea from Manchester United to Real Madrid, everybody will now be asking what now for David de Gea?

De Gea has been included in Manchester United’s 25-man Champions League squad, despite not featuring in any of United’s first team games this season.

A move to Spanish giants Real Madrid had been speculated for much of the summer and the last minute collapse of the big money transfer has left the Spaniard in an awkward position.

To be fair to the 24-year-old he has not disrespected his club like some other players looking for a move.

He has never said that he would not play, or give his all for the Red Devils instead he has kept his own counsel.

De Gea may want to move back to his home country and indeed city, but he has always been professional, with claims coming out of De Gea’s camp that he wanted to play in United’s opening games of the campaign.

It remains to be seen if De Gea will ever play for United again. However his inclusion in the Champions League squad suggests that he may well be selected for the first team in the near future.

United boss Louis van Gaal would be a fool not to consider De Gea for first team duties. He is one of the best ‘keepers in world football and unlike some players I do believe he would go out and try his best for United until that move away materialises.

De Gea will inevitably sign for Real Madrid, probably next summer, but until then united should make use of their two-time Player of the Year, because he is highly professional and is unlikely to give anything less than 100 per cent.

Should United boss Van Gaal pick David de Gea?
