Will David de Gea return to the United first team after being named in the Champions League squad?

Now the dust has settled on the non-transfer of David de Gea from Manchester United to Real Madrid, everybody will now be asking what now for David de Gea?

De Gea has been included in Manchester United’s 25-man Champions League squad, despite not featuring in any of United’s first team games this season.

A move to Spanish giants Real Madrid had been speculated for much of the summer and the last minute collapse of the big money transfer has left the Spaniard in an awkward position.

To be fair to the 24-year-old he has not disrespected his club like some other players looking for a move.

He has never said that he would not play, or give his all for the Red Devils instead he has kept his own counsel.

De Gea may want to move back to his home country and indeed city, but he has always been professional, with claims coming out of De Gea’s camp that he wanted to play in United’s opening games of the campaign.

It remains to be seen if De Gea will ever play for United again. However his inclusion in the Champions League squad suggests that he may well be selected for the first team in the near future.

United boss Louis van Gaal would be a fool not to consider De Gea for first team duties. He is one of the best ‘keepers in world football and unlike some players I do believe he would go out and try his best for United until that move away materialises.

De Gea will inevitably sign for Real Madrid, probably next summer, but until then united should make use of their two-time Player of the Year, because he is highly professional and is unlikely to give anything less than 100 per cent.

Should United boss Van Gaal pick David de Gea?
