According to Sky Sports, Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli could be returning to former-club AC Milan, with talks over a loan deal currently taken place between the two teams.
The Italian international is believed to have met with Rossoneri boss Sinisa Mihajlovic over the weekend to discuss the move.
Reports from Italy are suggesting that the player and his prospective new boss have agreed a deal, leaving the two clubs to sort out a deal.
Balotelli has endured a nightmare time on Merseyside since his £15million move from Milan last summer. The 25-year-old striker scored just once in ten Premier League starts last season, despite arriving with a big reputation and expectations.
Balotelli is undoubtedly talented, but the move simply has not worked out for the striker. The striker was relatively successful in his first spell in English football with Manchester City. However the move by Brendan Rodgers to bring him to Anfield was always a gamble.
Balotelli has fallen down the pecking order at Liverpool this summer with the arrivals of Danny Ings, Divock Origi and most importantly Christian Benteke. The striker has yet to feature for the Reds and looks set to earn his stint on Merseyside.
The mercurial star has previously been linked with AC Milan’s Serie A rivals Sampdoria and also Premier League new boys Watford this summer. However a move back to Milan could prove to be the best one for one of football’s biggest characters.
Wherever he plies his trade Mario Balotelli will no doubt be hoping that he can feature more and perform better with the European Championships next year.
