According to the Daily Mirror, former-Arsenal and France hero Patrick Vieira could be the next Sunderland boss, if veteran Dutch boss Dick Advocaat quits as Black Cats boss.

Vieira is currently working at Manchester City with the development squad, but is highly-regarded in the coaching world, and the Mirror claim that Vieira was on Sunderland’s wishlist before Advocaat signed a permanent contract with the north east club.

The Black Cats are currently bottom of the Premier League table, and Dutch boss Advocaat has already stated that he will step-down from his current role if a better candidate comes along to replace him.

The Black Cats have made their typical sluggish start to their league campaign, and have failed to win any of their league games so far this season.

Vieira has been linked with a number of Premier League roles in the past, including Sunderland’s arch-rivals Newcastle in the summer. It seems that Vieira will inevitably make the step-up to be a manager at some point in the near future.

With Sunderland routed to the bottom of the table, it remains to be seen if the former-France midfielder could be lured away from his role at City.

Will Patrick Vieira be the next Sunderland boss?
