Chelsea closing in on the Premier League title

Chelsea claimed a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the late Premier League kick-off on Saturday, with Belgium international Eden Hazard claiming the only goal of the game at Stamford Bridge.

The visitors dominated possession, but did not have the same clinical edge in attack as the Blues. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is famous for his tactical acumen and once again he got the better of a veteran tactician in United’s Louis van Gaal.

Jose Mourinho set-up his team in a cautious manner and has been criticised for setting-up in a defensive manner. However, the ends justified the means as the Blues claimed a win which saw them stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League table to ten points.

I am sure most Chelsea fans would be happy to win 1-0 every week if it meant that they would claim the Premier League title every season. Mourinho seems to be like Marmite, people even love him or hate him.

However, the Portuguese boss is a winner and serial collector of silverware. Wherever he goes he wins trophies and league titles. He often courts controversy, but he is simply one of the best managers of all-time.

Deserved

For me Chelsea have been the best team in the Premier League this season and deserve the title. They have some of the best players in the league in Eden Hazard and Diego Costa.

More importantly they have a boss who knows exactly what it takes to win a league title and he looks set to do just that again this season.

Is Chelsea’s brand of football under Mourinho ‘boring’?
