Chelsea are being linked with a move for Atletico Madrid duo Antoine Griezmann and Toby Alderweireld by the Guardian.
The Blues will inevitably be looking to strengthen an already strong squad this summer.
Both players have enjoyed impressive campaigns. Alderweireld has spent the season on-loan at Premier League Southampton, where has proven to be a very good replacement for Croatian defender Dejan Lovren, who left the Saints for Liverpool last summer.
Southampton are desperate to sign the centre-back on a permanent deal, but it seems that the former-Ajax player will have a host of other options this summer, including returning to Atleti.
Griezmann has been Atletico’s star performer this season, scoring 25 times in all competitions since his summer move from Real Sociedad.
The France international has slightly adapted his role this season becoming more of a central striker, or second striker after spending much of his career on the wings.
The 24-year-olds impressive campaign has seen him linked with a number of clubs. The former-Sociedad will not come cheap though, as his minimum release clause is £43million.
Of course Chelsea has history of dealing with Atleti, having allowed ‘keeper Thibaut Courtois to spend two seasons on loan with the club from the Spanish capital. The Blues also raided Atleti last summer to sign star striker Diego Costa and full-back Felipe Luis.
Another summer swoop on Diego Simeone’s team cannot be ruled out and it seems that the Blues are prepared to spend big this summer in order to once again compete for the big trophies next season.
Will Chelsea sign Antoine Griezmann or Toby Alderweireld?
