Barcelona’s marauding right full-back Dani Alves could be set to leave the European champions this summer.

The 32-year-old is out-of-contract in Spain and is reported to have turned down an offer of a new contract at the Nou Camp.

The Brazilian starred for Barcelona in Saturday’s Champions League final victory against Juventus, but looks set to move on this summer.

Italy

It seems that Italy is a possible destination for the Brazilian international. Alves told Sky Italia: “It would be a pleasure to join Milan. There is a proposal from Italy and I will evaluate all the alternatives before deciding.”

His agent Dinorah Santana has claimed that Alves has been offered a three-year deal and a pay rise to leave Barcelona, presumably from Milan.

Premier League Manchester United have also previously been linked with a move for the extrovert full-back. A move to Italy looks more likely at the moment though.

Silverware

Alves has enjoyed a trophy-laden seven years in Catalonia, having won La Liga five times, the Champions League three times and also the Copa del Rey four times.

He has achieved everything there is to achieve in club football at Barcelona, maybe now is the time for him to move on.

Replacement

Alves leaving would leave Barcelona with a problem, as they are currently in the midst of a transfer embargo that finishes in January.

That means that the Catalan giants would not be able to sign a replacement for the Brazilian this summer.

That may mean youngster Martin Montoya being given a chance to impress, or Brazilian Douglas enjoying more first team football next season. However, unless either impresses immensely a new right-back is likely to arrive in January.

Where will Dani Alves be plying his trade next season?
