Liverpool have experienced their second major injury blow in less than a week, as England international Danny Ings has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the remainder of the season.

The former-Burnley striker sustained the injury on Wednesday while training with the Reds at Melwood. The news came just after new Reds boss Jurgen Klopp had his first pre-match press conference as Liverpool boss.

The 23-year-old will now undergo surgery on the injury next week. This news comes after young Reds defender Joe Gomez was ruled out for the rest of the season earlier in the week with a similar problem.

The striker had just broken into the senior England squad after being a mainstay of the under-21 team for the last few years. Ings had scored three goals in his five appearances for the Reds, which earned him a call-up to Roy Hodgson.

His chances of making Euro 2016 might now be slim, as he is expected to miss the friendly international match with Germany in March.

The news will come as a blow to new Reds boss Jurgen Klopp as he looks to get Liverpool back on the right track in the Premier League.

Does Danny Ings still have a chance of making England’s Euro 2016 squad?
