According to Sky Sports, Championship Derby County are interested in signing Manchester United’s highly-rated young striker James Wilson on-loan.

The Red Devils were reluctant to allow Wilson to leave in the summer transfer window, as he was one of only two central strikers remaining at Old Trafford alongside Wayne Rooney.

Louis van Gaal’s team added to their attacking options on deadline day by bringing in French youngster Anthony Martial from Monaco for £36million. That may mean that the Red Devils will sanction a temporary move for their young forward.

Wilson is highly-regarded at United, having come through the clubs academy. The 19-year-old has made 14 senior appearances, but the arrival of Martial means his chances of seeing much first team action this season are not great.

Derby were amongst the favourites for promotion to the Premier League under former-Real Madrid assistant boss Paul Clement. However, five games in and the Rams have yet to claim their first win of the campaign, having drawn four and lost one.

Clement obviously sees Wilson as a player that can add something to his struggling team. The youngster could gain greatly from the experience of playing regular first team football.

Would a move to Derby be a good one for James Wilson?
