Everton boss Roberto Martinez has ruled out selling highly-rated Belgium winger Kevin Mirallas in January, despite the fact that the former-Olympiakos star has been limited to cameo roles for the Toffees this season.

Mirallas signed a new contract in January, with his contract close to expiring. The Belgian international is a popular figure amongst the Toffees fans, but has been frustrated this season by his lack of first team starts.

The lack of first team starts has led to speculation he may leave Merseyside in the January transfer window. However Everton boss Martinez has denied that Mirallas will be leaving Everton. Saying: “It couldn’t be further from the truth,”

“Kevin has been a very important player while I’ve been at the football club. The start of the season has been challenging for him individually as he’s had a couple of niggles, a couple of injuries. Then he had the sending off, so he wasn’t available for three games.”

Mirallas is unlikely to start the Toffees next game at West Ham on Saturday, as Arouna Kone and Spaniard Gerard Deulofeu both impressed in Everton’s 6-2 mauling of Sunderland last time out in the Premier League.

Should Kevin Mirallas leave Everton in January?
