Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is close to joining Italian giants Inter, according to the Nerazzurri’s Vice-president Javier Zanetti.

The 32-year-old midfielder has been linked with a summer move after enduring a difficult campaign.

When asked about the negotiations for Toure, Zanetti told Gazzetta dello Sport: “We are at the stage where we hope we can complete it. Yaya would give us that leap in quality.”

Toure has endured a difficult campaign because of injury and loss of form, although the Ivorian has still managed to scored ten goals in 28 Premier League appearances this season.

He is reported to be City’s highest paid player on a wage of around £220,000 per-week. City have also endured a difficult campaign and look set to overhaul their squad with Toure believed to be one of the players available for transfer this summer.

Toure has been at Manchester City for five years and has helped the Citizens to two Premier League titles, amongst other trophies, and was once seen as a key player for City.

It seems he no longer has that mantle, after being criticised by many for under-par performances this season.

Inter boss Roberto Mancini was the man who signed Toure for City from Barcelona and is a big admirer of the giant midfielder.

Mancini’s Inter team also looks set for a squad overhaul with the Nerazzurri currently eighth in the Serie A table.

Former-City boss Mancini is expected to strengthen his squad in the summer and Toure seems to be on his summer wishlist.

Will Yaya Toure be plying his trade in Serie A next season?
