Champions League finalists Juventus have completed the signing of Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic from Atletico Madrid for a fee in the region of £13.6million, which could eventually rise to £15million with add-ons.
Mandzukic has signed a four-year-deal with the Bianconeri. The striker is expected to be a replacement for Argentinian star Carlos Tevez, who is being heavily linked with a move back to his homeland with Boca Juniors.
Goals
The 29-year-old has been prolific in front of goal in the last few seasons, last season scoring 20 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions for Atleti.
In his previous campaign Mandzukic found the net 28 times for German giants Bayern Munich, having also found the net 22 times in the previous campaign. Not bad stats for a striker who cost a relative small fee by today’s standards.
Style
Mandzukic scored goals in Madrid with Atleti, but his style never really fitted-in with the team’s style of play, so it was no surprise that the striker has moved on this summer. It seems Atletico are looking at alternative options this summer.
Target
The Spanish club are being linked with a move for FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez this summer.
The striker is reported to have a release clause of around £24.3million in his contract. The Colombian is currently away on international duty with his national team at the Copa America.
Martinez has also been linked with moves to the likes of AC Milan and Arsenal this summer, but has expressed his affection for the Gunners. The 28-year-old has been prolific for Porto scoring over 60 goals in three seasons in Portugal.
