According to Sky Sports, Turkish giants Fenerbahce are in talks with Liverpool to sign Serbian winger Lazar Markovic on-loan.

The 21-year only joined the Reds from Benfica last summer in a deal worth around £20million.

He was brought in last summer as Liverpool spent £110million, following the big money sale of Luis Suarez and qualification for the Champions League.

He arrived from Benfica with a big reputation and was highly-rated. However, he made just 11 Premier League starts last season and found the net just three times in all competitions.

Markovic started his career in his homeland with Partizan Belgrade, before moving to the Portuguese top-flight in 2013. He scored five goals in 19 appearances for Benfica, which earned him a move to the Premier League.

The youngster has already won 20 caps for his national team and has shown some promise in his career so far. He will be looking to resurrect his career in the Turkish capital, after a disappointing season on Merseyside.

Despite Liverpool’s willingness to allow Markovic to leave, reports suggest that the Liverpool hierarchy believe that the youngster still has a future on Merseyside.

His loan move does not contain an option for the Turkish side to make the transfer permanent, so he could yet still have a successful career at Liverpool.

Markovic will be the fourth of last summer’s nine signings to leave the club this summer, after the likes Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Javier Manquillo all left the Reds this summer.

Does Lazar Markovic have a future at Liverpool?
