Liverpool will be without captain and midfielder Jordan Henderson for up to eight weeks, after the England international broke a bone in his foot in training at the Reds training ground Melwood on Friday.

Henderson had only just returned from the US following treatment on a heel problem on his other foot.

Liverpool were hoping to have Henderson fit for their home game with Norwich on Sunday, but this news is a major blow and the midfielder now looks set to have surgery on the problem on Monday. The injury means the 25-year-old is likely to be out of action until November.

The Reds have been without the midfielder for the past three Premier League games through the heel injury and have suffered consecutive defeats in the top-flight.

Despite the injury to Henderson the Reds will be favourites to defeat Norwich at Anfield on Sunday. The Canaries have won just once in their last 13 away games in the top-flight.

The game is a vital one for Brendan Rodgers and his team, as the pressure grows on the Northern Irishman.

The Reds at least finished their two game losing run with a 1-1 draw at French Ligue One side Bordeaux in the Europa League on Thursday night.

How much will Liverpool miss Jordan Henderson?
