Young Liverpool full-back Jon Flanagan has signed a new contract with the Reds

Liverpool starlet Raheem Sterling may want away from the club, but two of the Reds other promising young talents have signed contract extensions with the Merseysider’s, as full-back Jon Flanagan and winger Jordon Ibe have put pen to paper on new deals.

Flanagan has not been able to play this season due to injury and will be out for at least another six months with a knee injury. The 22-year-old broke into the first team in 2010 and last season made 23 Premier League appearances.

He is highly-regarded within the set-up at Anfield and Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has said he believes that he is an important player for the future at Liverpool.

Jordon Ibe enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in the second half of the campaign, having made 11 Premier League appearances, including seven starts for the Reds.

The 19-year-old has produced some impressive displays for Rodgers men and looks to have a bright future with the club.

Ibe was given his first team chance this season after impressing for Derby in the Championship in a short loan spell, with the youngster scoring five goals in his time with the Rams. The winger is now regarded as one of the brightest young English players.

It seems that these two youngsters are happy at Liverpool, even if Raheem Sterling is not.

Under Brendan Rodgers it seems that the pair have a chance to establish themselves at one of English football’s traditional powerhouses.
