Manchester United suffered a 2-1 defeat at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

It was another game when United just did not produce enough of an attacking threat on the opposition goal.

Fresh off the back of a midweek Champions League hat-trick against Club Brugge, captain Wayne Rooney once again flattered to deceive in the Premier League.

His performance will lead United fans to once again ask the question does United need to sign another striker before the transfer window shuts at 6PM on Tuesday.

The Red Devils attacking options could be even less if there is any truth in the rumour that they could part company with Mexican striker Javier Hernandez, who is clearly out of favour at United and sent last season on-loan at Real Madrid.

The striker is reportedly being tracked by West Ham and Bayer Leverkusen. No doubt he would get more first team football at both those clubs, as he is now very little more than abit-part player at Old Trafford.

Louis van Gaal has recently stated that he believes Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini may player more as a central striker this season, a role which he occasionally fulfilled at former-club Everton.

However, that is not a long-term solution. The Red Devils look highly unlikely to challenge for the Premier League title with their current attacking options.

A late move by Van Gaal definitely cannot be ruled out, especially as his team have scored just three goals in their four top-flight games this season.

Will Manchester United make a late move for a striker before the transfer window shuts?
