Juventus striker Alvaro Morata came back to haunt former-club Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals

It’s the old rule of football, a player coming back to haunt his former-club. Juventus striker Alvaro Morata did just that against old club Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The young striker scored in both legs of their semi-final tie to help Juventus to their eighth European Cup final.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti stated earlier this season that he did not regret selling Morata last summer, despite the 22-year-old breaking into the Spanish national squad and looking like he could go on to fulfil his potential.

Morata has not always been a regular starter for the Italian giants, but has still scored 13 times this season in all competitions and collected four assists. Those statistics are not bad for the youngster’s debut season in a foreign country.

Morata had shown promise in the Spanish capital, but Real’s policy of signing Galactico’s hampered the youngster’s chances of ever playing first team football with Los Blancos.

With the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema blocking his route to the first team he was always likely to move on.

Maybe Morata will prove to be one of those players who got away from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants have a habit of selling promising young players, only to buy them back at a later date, sometimes for major fees.

However, Morata will not be concerned about Real Madrid. The youngster will be too busy looking ahead at a possible Champions League final appearance on June 6th.

Should Real Madrid regret selling Alvaro Morata?
