Spanish giants Sevilla have had a bid of around £7million accepted for French midfielder Steven Nzonzi.

The 26-year-old has just a year left to run on his contract in the Potteries, but Stoke were hopeful that the midfielder would agree a fresh deal with the club.

However, Nzonzi has now been given permission to speak to the Andalusian’s, who can offer Champions League football next season following their Europa League triumph last season under Unai Emery.

Nzonzi joined the Potters in 2012 from Blackburn for £3million and has gone on to play 120 games for the club, including 100 in the Premier League.

The midfielder has impressed in recent seasons and his performances have obviously attracted attention from elsewhere.

Meanwhile in-demand Potters ‘keeper Asmir Begovic has travelled with the squad for their pre-season tour, despite the fact that he is being linked with a big money move this summer. The Bosnian ‘keeper has been linked with moves to Manchester United and Chelsea this summer.

The Potters are hoping to complete the £12million signing of Swiss winger Xherdan Shaqiri from Inter. The two clubs have agreed a fee and the player is believed to have been offered a big money contract by the Potters.

Shaqiri is now mauling over the contract, with Stoke’s Premier League rivals Everton also reported to be interested in signing the former-Bayern Munich star.

Signing the 23-year-old would be a major coup for the Potters, as he is highly-rated and has big potential.

Will Steven Nzonzi good enough to play for Sevilla?
