Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is set to hold an end of season meeting with the clubs owners

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will have an end of season meeting with the clubs owners later this week. If Rodgers was a school child his report card would read ‘must do better’.

In truth the Reds have endured a poor campaign, after finishing second in the Premier League the previous season.

A sixth place finish in the top-flight and going out of the Champions League at the group stage cannot really be considered a successful campaign.

The 42-year-old’s future as Reds boss was believed to be in question, especially as the Northern Irishman stated that he would resign if the clubs owners wished him to.

However, it seems the clubs owners are set to give the former-Swansea boss more time to get it right at Anfield.

One of the issues for Rodgers last season was that his signings did not exactly set the world alight. Most struggled to make their mark at Anfield, as the Reds went for quantity rather than quality in the transfer market.

The likes of Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli struggled to have an impact in attack, with undisputed first choice striker Daniel Sturridge struggling with injury for much of the campaign.

Youngsters Emre Can, Alberto Moreno and Lazar Markovic showed flashes of their potential, but all three are probably more players for the future than now.

Rodgers needs to be cleverer in the transfer market this summer and enjoy a good start to next season. If not then then the fans and the owners of the club will once again start asking questions about his future.

Should Liverpool sack Brendan Rodgers?
