Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has denied that he is the Blues player who stated that he would rather lose than win for boss Jose Mourinho.

Reports emerged last week that a player had become disillusioned with the Chelsea boss.

The rumour mill was in overdrive on Monday, as it was claimed that Fabregas was the player who had spoken to the media.

Fabregas released a statement saying: “I would like to clarify that contrary to a few reports from some websites, I am extremely happy at Chelsea and have an excellent relationship with the manager.

“There may be certain individuals from the outside trying to destabilise this club but I strongly believe that we will bounce back and come good again.”

Fabregas was left out of the Blues starting line-up for their 3-1 home defeat on Saturday, which left the reigning champions in 15th position in the Premier League table with just 11 points from their 11 league games so far this season.

The Blues have a vital Champions League game on Wednesday night against Dynamo Kiev and no doubt Spanish international Fabregas will play some part in the fixture. Mourinho will be hoping his side produce a reaction to that Liverpool defeat.

Will Cesc Fabregas start Chelsea’s game against Dynamo Kiev?
