Burnley right-back Kieran Trippier has passed a medical at Tottenham, according to Sky Sports, and is set to complete a £3.5million move to White Hart Lane. It looks to be a bargain deal for the club from north London.

Highly-rated

The 24-year-old full-back is highly-rated after impressing in his first full season in the Premier League. Only England and Everton full-back Leighton Baines produced more key passes from defence than the former-Manchester City trainee last season.

The previous season he had earned a reputation as an attacking full-back who created lots of assists, having collected 14 assists in the Clarets promotion campaign.

Competition

Trippier was tipped for an England call-up by some last season and will provide competition for Kyle Walker, whose recent career has been hampered by injury and more recently loss of form. Trippier may help bring the best out of the former-Sheffield United star.

Walker is now down the pecking order in terms of England at international level, with Phil Jones and Nathaniel Clyne now looking like the most likely right-back options for Roy Hodgson.

Shrewd

Tottenham look set for a summer of signing young and hungry players, after summers of over-spending on overrated players. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino likes to be able to help players to progress and become better.

The signing of Trippier may not be a glamour signing in the eyes of Spurs fans, but it could just turn out to be a very shrewd one indeed from Spurs Argentinian boss.

Is Kieran Trippier a good signing for Tottenham?
