QPR striker Charlie Austin is reportedly being chased by Tottenham

According to the Daily Mirror, Tottenham are ready to pay £15million for QPR striker Charlie Austin.

The striker has been linked with a number of different clubs since the Hoops relegation last season, but it seems nobody is willing to meet QPR’s valuation of the striker.

That could all change if Spurs enter the fray for the striker. They have been relatively quiet in the buying market and have offloaded a number of unwanted players this summer.

That means that boss Mauricio Pochettino could finally have some real cash to splash.

Tottenham are short of strikers at the moment. England international Harry Kane is undisputed first choice in the lone striker role. The other senior strikers Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor both look set to leave the club though.

Adebayor has reportedly been in lengthy negotiations with Aston Villa over a loan move and is surplus to requirements in north London. Soldado has been linked with a cut-price move back to to most notably Villarreal.

It is obvious that neither seem to have a future at White Hart Lane, which leaves Spurs with a lack of strikers.

Austin would no doubt be a good signing for Pochettino’s men, as he scored 18 Premier League goals last season despite his club finishing bottom of the top-flight table.

Whether Austin would move to Spurs knowing that he is unlikely to be first choice striker remains to be seen.

From a Tottenham point of view though, he would definitely be a good signing if they do indeed make a £15million move.

Should Tottenham sign Charlie Austin?
