Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew is among four candidates to win August’s Premier League manager of the month award, alongside Manuel Pellegrini, Garry Monk and Claudio Ranieri.

Palace have started the season in good form and have claimed three wins from their four Premier League games so far this season.

The Eagles currently sit second in the table, with a home game against league leaders Manchester City to come on Saturday.

Last time out Pardew’s team recorded a 2-1 win at reigning champions Chelsea, to become only the second team to claim a victory over Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

Pardew took charge of the Eagles in January when they were in a relegation battle. However, the former-Newcastle boss steered the Eagles to a tenth place finish, their highest top-flight in over two decades.

Pardew has continued his good work at the start of this season and the Eagles are now looking more like top six contenders than relegation candidates. The 54-year-old has some stiff competition from Manuel Pellegrini, whose City team have won all four games this season.

Leicester’s Claudio Ranieri and Swansea’s Garry Monk have both guided their teams to two victories and two draws this season so far making them realistic contenders to claim the award.

Will Alan Pardew win Premier League manager of the month?
