According to the Guardian, Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is interesting European champions Barcelona and La Liga rivals Valencia, both of whom are reported to have sent scouts to watch the highly-rated Spanish international.

The 26-year-old joined United from Athletic Bilbao last summer for a fee of £25million and was lauded as a player who could be the answer to the Red Devils long standing central midfield problems.

However, last he started just 19 Premier League games. He made a further seven substitute appearances, contributing six goals and four assists in the top-flight. This season he has started just one of the Red Devils four Premier League games and came also came on as a substitute.

Herrera faces increased competition for a place in the team this season, with the summer arrivals of central midfielders Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Herrera can also operate on the wings, but United have also strengthened in those positions as well bringing in Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay.

Barcelona are currently in the midst of a transfer embargo that finishes in January and have already signed Turkish international midfielder Arda Turan, who will be able to feature for the Catalan giants when the embargo is lifted.
