Former-AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato is eying-up a return to European football in the near future.

The Brazilian has been plying his trade back in his homeland since joining Corinthians back in 2013 from AC Milan.

Pato is currently on-loan at Corinthians rivals Sao Paulo, where his contract expires in December. He has scored 17 times in his 45 league appearances for his temporary club.

However it seems he wants his next move to be back to European football. He told Marca: “I feel happy at Sao Paulo but my big dream is to play in the Champions League again.

“I feel my time in European football is not finished. I am on loan with Sao Paulo until the end of the year and then I do not know what will happen.”

In his early days with AC Milan he looked like a potential superstar. Seemingly having every attribute to become a top-class striker in the future, his career imploded, as injuries and a party lifestyle meant his career with the Rossoneri ended rather prematurely.

At 25-years-old Pato still has plenty of time to fulfil that potential and it could be fulfilled in the game. The forward has been linked with a number of English clubs in recent months, including Stoke, Everton and Sunderland.

Pato dreams of playing in the Champions League, but firstly he needs to prove that he is still good enough to play in the European game. If reports are to be believed that chance could come sooner rather than later for the former-wonderkid.

Will Alexandre Pato be plying his trade in European football in the near future?
