West Brom striker Saido Berahino has been left out of the Baggies squad for their home game against champions Chelsea today.

It seems the England under-21 international could be set to leave the Hawthorns, with Tottenham heavily linked with a move for the forward.

Baggies boss Tony Pulis recently asked Berahino to stay focussed and ignore the transfer speculation, but it now seems he has ignored that request.

Tottenham had a bid rejected for Berahino earlier this week, believed to be of around £15million, but with the transfer deadline day looming they could now intensify their interest in the striker.

Spurs are in need of an extra striker to assist England international Harry Kane.

Spanish striker Roberto Soldado left north London for Villarreal, while Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been told he has no future at the club. That means Spurs are short of senior attacking options and are likely add to their squad.

Berahino is without doubt a talented player, after scoring 20 goals last season, among them 14 in the Premier League. The 22-year-old has shown his potential over the past few years and it seems that potential could lead to a move elsewhere.

No doubt talented, the youngster’s temperament has been questioned at times. He has been involved in incidents off the field, which has not helped his reputation as a troublemaker.

If the youngster does make the move to Tottenham then he will no doubt be hoping that his football can do the talking, whether that will be at Spurs remains to be seen.

Will Tottenham sign Saido Berahino this summer?
