Young Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has won PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for August/September in the Premier League.

The 19-year-old joined the Red Devils from Monaco for an initial fee of around £36million on deadline day and has made an instant impact for his new team.

Martial scored three times in his first two top-flight appearances, and won man of the match against Sunderland.

His performances and goals helped United back to the top of the Premier League for the first time in over two years. The Red Devils have since been knocked off the top by arch-rivals Manchester City, but they remain in the Premier League title hunt.

Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez and West Ham playmaker Dimitri Payet were the other two players in the Premier League’s top-three shortlist.

Both players have played significant parts in their team currently occupying positions in the top six of the Premier League table.

Algerian international Mahrez has scored five times and collected three assists this season, as the Foxes have surprised everybody with their early season form under Claudio Ranieri.

French international playmaker Payer arrived in England with a reputation for being something of an assist-king.

It seems that reputation was not wrong as he has supplied three assists, but also scored four goals in the Premier League since his summer arrival from Marseille.

Did Martial deserve to win Player of the Month?
