Barcelona stretched their lead over Real Madrid at the top of La Liga to five points with a 6-0 hammering of Getafe at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night.

It took just eight minutes for the Catalan giants to take the lead. Uruguayan star Luis Suarez was brought down in the penalty area by Alvaro Arroyo.

Lionel Messi stepped-up and scored with a brilliant chipped effort to beat Vicente Guaita.

Messi turned provider on 25 minutes as he found Suarez with a pinpoint cross and the Uruguayan star got in ahead of his marker to volley home Barcelona’s second of the game. Suarez then had a hand in the third goal three minutes later.

The former-Liverpool ace dispossessed Emiliano Velazquez and then found Neymar, who cut inside and fired an effort past Guaita. It was four on 30 minutes, as Neymar found Xavi, who from just outside the area curled an effort into the top corner.

The Catalan giants had a fifth on 40 minutes. Neymar and Messi combined well to find Xavi, who flicked the ball onto Suarez and the Uruguayan curled an effort past the beleaguered Getafe ‘keeper.

Just two minutes into the second half and Luis Enrique’s side completed the scoring. Neymar found Messi with a lofted pass and the Argentinian curled a shot into the top corner.

Suarez more missed chances to score his hat-trick and Fredy hit the bar for the visitors in the second half.

It was a superb display Barcelona’s awesome attacking prowess that will put major pressure on title rivals Real Madrid, who face Almeria on Wednesday night.
