Andrea Bertolacci picked-up a muscle injury in Italy’s Euro qualifying match against Malta.
A lot was mentioned in the media about his appearance being at risk in AC Milan’s next match in the derby against Inter Milan. Sky Sports contacted Bertolacci to learn more about the injury.
Bertolacci mentioned that he started feeling pain towards the end of the first half with the pain persisting in the second half and therefore asked to be substituted.
He also mentioned that he’s very eager to play in the derby and will do his best to be part of it, although it still remains to be seen how the injury will evolve.
He also spoke about Italy’s match against Malta. He stated that it is difficult to play against a side that defends so deeply, even for important sides such as Italy.
Bertolacci added that any side that faced Malta yesterday would have found it difficult to win the match. The episode that led to the goal was enough for Italy to win the match.
Lastly he mentioned that it’s important for Italy to win against Bulgaria to secure a place in next summers Euro 2016 tournament.
