Newcastle have moved out of the relegation zone with a 1-0 win at Bournemouth and leapfrogged the Dorset outfit in the table.

The Cherries now look in trouble in the top-flight, after Ayoze Perez’s goal at the Vitality Stadium.

The problem for Eddie Howe’s side is that they dominated the game and Newcastle was simply more clinical in front of goal. The Magpies had just two shots on goal, but came away with a valuable victory.

Newcastle ‘keeper Rob Elliot was doubtful for the clash. The Magpies other two senior keepers Tim Krul and Karl Darlow are both currently out of action through, so Elliot was forced to feature.

It was a good job he was passed fit, as the third choice stopper produced a string of fine saves to deny the Cherries.

The situation must now be a worrying one for the Premier League new boys, who are on a poor run of form, after starting the campaign in relatively positive fashion.

Howe’s side have endured terrible luck when it comes to injuries, with the likes of Callum Wilson, Max Gradel and Tyrone Mings all out with long-term injuries.

It seems that the Cherries could now face a tough campaign and may just be cursing their luck following those long-term injuries, as they could just see the Cherries making a quick return to the Championship.

Is Bournemouth in for a long hard season ahead?
