Chelsea are being linked with a move for Augsburg full-back Baba Rahman

According to the Guardian, Chelsea are favourites to complete the signing of Augsburg full-back Baba Rahman, although the Bundesliga side are believed to want closer to £17.5million for the 21-year-old.

Rahman only joined the Bundesliga outfit last summer, after two seasons with Greuther Furth. However he was one of their best players last season as the minnows finished an impressive fifth place in the Bundesliga table.

The highly-rated Ghanaian produced four assists and had one of the highest rates of successful tackles in the German top-flight last season.  He is now regarded as hot property with the likes of Roma and Juventus also reportedly interested in signing the talented full-back.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has recently admitted that he may only add a left-back to his squad if Brazilian international Felipe Luis leaves the club. The 29-year-old is expected to complete a return to Spanish club Atletico Madrid, just a year after making the move the opposite way.

Luis is expected to cost Diego Simeone’s side around £16million, which was about the same fee that the Blues paid for the full-back.

He was expected to be first choice left-back at Stamford Bridge last season, but Mourinho decided to keep faith with the ultra-consistent right-footed Cesar Azpilicueta in the position. Luis made just nine Premier League starts for the Blues and will be expecting more first team football in the Spanish capital.

Meanwhile Rahman seems like he could be a very exciting signing for the Blues and Cesar Azpilicueta may now be looking more nervously over his shoulder regarding his starting place.

Would Baba Rahman be a good signing for Chelsea?
