Arsenal ‘keeper Wojciech Szczesny is in talks over a loan move to Roma

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal ‘keeper Wojciech Szczesny is in talks over a loan move to Italian club Roma.

The Poland international lost his place as Gunners number one halfway through last season to Colombian international David Ospina. The arrival of Petr Cech from London rivals Chelsea has pushed him further down the pecking order at the Emirates.

He is now regarded as he Gunners third choice ‘keeper behind undisputed number one Cech and Ospina. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is happy to keep all three internationals keepers at the club, but it always seemed inevitable that one would leave in search of regular first team.

Ospina had been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Everton earlier in the transfer window, but insisted that he was happy in north London. It seems like it could be Szczesny that is moving on this summer and not Ospina though.

Szczesny is still highly-regarded by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, despite moments of madness both on and off the pitch in recent years. He broke into the Gunners team at a very young age and has lots of potential.

He is still only 25-years-old, but seems to have been around an awful long time. The move is likely to give him more regular playing time, after he was restricted to just playing in the cup competitions in the second half of last season.

No doubt the Poland international will be hoping to impress to either earn himself a permanent move to Italy, or to earn himself a second crack at being Arsenal’s number one in the near future.

Will Wojciech Szczesny be successful at Roma?
