Watford are being linked with a January move for former-Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor

According to the Daily Mirror, Watford could be set to make a January move for former-Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

The 31-year-old recently had his contract at Spurs cancelled by mutual consent after falling out of favour with Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The Hornets have made a solid start to life back in the Premier League, with the strike-partnership of Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney proving to be a big hit. However it seems that boss Quique Sanchez Flores is looking to add to his attacking options in the January transfer window.

Adebayor is a maverick, who has been inconsistent in his time in the Premier League. At times he has been fantastic for the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Spurs. His talent has never been questioned, but there have been question marks about the 31-year-olds attitude.

The Togo international has failed to fulfil his potential and is now looking for a new club. Despite being a free agent he cannot sign for a new club until January because Premier League regulations.

Adebayor has been successful in his early days at clubs, as he has strived to impress, so maybe a short-term deal could be ideal for Watford and the player himself who will be looking to prove he is still good enough to play in the top-flight.

Should Watford pursue a deal for Emmanuel Adebayor in January?
