Philippe Mexes AC MilanIt seems that Fiorentina are still interested in signing French defender Philippe Mexes.

The first indication was provided by Daniele Prade which was then backed up by the newspaper La Nazione, as it stated that Fiorentina are in the hunt of an experienced central defender that can team up with Gonzalo Rodriguez.

In this summer’s transfer window Fiorentina had identified in Mexes the ideal player to sign both in terms of technical and financial parameters.

It seemed that the deal was going to happen before AC Milan president, Silvio Berlusconi, vetoed the move. That said, Mexes’s situation at AC Milan did not change as the coach, Mihajlovic, doesn’t rate him much.

Should the current situation not change with playing time remaining limited Mexes may decide to leave AC Milan in January, although his contract runs up to next summer.

It seems that Mexes’s experience at AC Milan is coming to an end whilst a new Italian experience at Fiorentina may be on the cards.

Philippe Mexes moved to Italy back in 2004 when he had joined Roma. He played 7 seasons with the capital based side before moving to AC Milan on a free transfer in 2011.

Would Philippe Mexes be a good signing for the Viola?
