Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale is not leaving the Spanish capital this summer, according to his agent Jonathan Barnett.
The Welsh winger had been linked with a big money return to England with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City all reportedly interested in signing him.
However, Barnett has poured cold water on those rumours by telling Sky Sports: “Why would he look to go elsewhere?
“Real Madrid are the number one club in the world. There’s always interest in him – but as far as we are concerned he’ll be at Real Madrid next summer.”
Bale has come in for some heavy criticism this season for his performances, after a successful debut campaign for Los Blancos. Rumours have been circulating that Bale could move on this summer for a fee in the region of £80million.
However, the statement from Barnett points to Bale staying with Carlo Ancelotti’s side next season, although things can change in football and you just never know.
Bale is the most expensive player in world football having moved to Real from Tottenham for a fee in the region of £85million in the summer of 2013.
The Real fans are not known as the most patient bunch and Bale’s lukewarm form this season has seen him singled out for criticism.
His ineffective performance against Juventus in Los Blancos’ 2-1 Champions League semi-final first leg defeat had Madrid fans saying Real should let the Wales international join Manchester United, because he was no use to Real, which is may be regarded as slightly harsh by some.
